The road of life… focus on the journey (and other wise words)

The road of life can definitely be an interesting journey! Sometimes it feels like a roller coaster ride rather than a leisurely scenic drive, but it is a journey nonetheless. At times, we feel like we are just hanging on by the tips of our fingers, but other times we crave just one moment of boredom. With a journey like this, how can you keep from getting lost along the way?

The answer: FOCUS.

‎~The road of life twists and turns and no two directions are ever the same. Yet our lessons come from the journey, not the destination.

When you are on a long road trip, what is your focus? Most of the time, it is not on the road you are already on. Rather, you are probably thinking or looking for the exit or road that comes next. “I am on highway such-and-such, but I’m looking for I-85.” You are focused on the journey at hand – the now.

Although we have learned many life lessons on our independent journeys, some of those times we would never want to repeat even if a valuable lesson was learned. Things like middle school, divorce, or failure we may not care to do over, but each was valuable in shaping us into the people we are today. We would not be the same without them.

So, the next time your road of life takes you down a twisty stretch of road, pay attention. There is most likely a lesson to be learned to further shape you into the person that you want to be. Hang on and enjoy the ride!

‎~Opportunity knocks only once; but temptation, on the other hand, seems to lean on the doorbell.

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars and to change the world.” ~ anonymous

‎~When all else fails – dance with your kids.

~Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you’ll understand what little chance you have in trying to change others.

When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it. ~ Henry Ford

~Blowing out another’s candle will not make yours shine brighter.
